If you're curious...
My 2009 ACL schedule

Denver

A-mazing! Sister and I not only got to spend time together, but we got to do it in Denver... and with Kate, too!
Left on Sunday, stopped in Castle Rocks for some outlet shopping. Sis got a watch but the rest was a bust. Arrived in Denver, ate at Wazee Supper Club, went for a swim, and saw Transformers in the iMax.

Monday we had a tasty breakt at The Delectable Egg, shopped around a bit, met up with an old friend for coffee, had din at Steuben's, and saw My Sister's Keeper.

Tuesday we had an amazing breakt at Snooze, went to Boulder, and went to the concert at Red Rocks. Show was great.

I'm a nerd and wrote the set list for all three bands... I had to post it somewhere.

Portland

Portland was boring.
You know...

Got some ink by an amazing artist

Hit up three awesome brew pubs (Rogue, Deschuttes, and Bridgeport)...

Went to a killer bookstore...

Ran into Emily Haines (w/the rest of the band - Metric) on the street...

Saw an amazing show that evening and randomly ended up getting to go backstage and hang w/the band...

Enjoyed the wonderful-ness of the city...

Checked out PSU...

...

Kinda sucks though... I fell in love with a new city and I feel as if Albuquerque is rejecting me. Hopefully it goes away soon. :)

Sia

I've tried to refrain from strictly music posts but this is definitely worth it.

This week's free music video on iTunes is "Soon we'll be Found" by Sia... I've been a fan of hers for quite some time and really enjoy this song, so i downloaded it immediately. I just got a chance to watch it and O M G (!!!!!)... you have got to see it! If you have iTunes, get it NOW... if not, you can view it here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofkomz-91yc).

Enjoy!!!!

Lyrics -
come along it is the break of day
surely now, you'll have some things to say
it's not the time for telling tales on me

so come along it won't be long
'til we return happy
shut your eyes, there are no lies
in this world we call sleep
let's desert this day of hurt
tomorrow we'll be free

let's not fight I'm tired can't we just sleep tonight
don't turn away it's just there's nothing left here to say
turn around i know we're lost but soon we'll be found

well it's been rough but we'll be just fine
work it out yeah we'll survive
you mustn't let a few bad times dictate

so come along, it won't be long
'til we return happy
shut your eyes, there are no lies
in this world we call sleep
let's desert this day of work
tomorrow we'll be free

let's not fight I'm tired can't we just sleep tonight
don't turn away it's just there's nothing left here to say
turn around i know we're lost but soon we'll be found

Austin City Limits Music Festival

AMAZING!

Here's the breakdown --

Friday:
Vampire Weekend - a letdown, they're too young
Delta Spirit - a default but pretty good
Mates of State - F'ing awesome! Fighting for my fave.
G Love and Special Sauce - AMAZING entertainment. Fighting for my fave.
The Mars Volta (from afar) - solid

Saturday:
Fleet Foxes - meh
Jose Gonzales - he's wonderful and his band is cute
CSS - AMAZING! Great entertainment!!!
MGMT - a letdown
Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band - VERY enjoyable, Conor looked handsome.

Sunday:
Stars - a letdown
Blues Traveler - a novelty
Okkervil River - default but the band had great chemistry
Tegan and Sara - Beautiful, as per usual... great set list (as if there could really be a bad 'ne)!!

...we skipped all of the headliners... I'm probably mostly ok with it.
It's hard to grab a moment to soak all of this killer music in...

Next up is Iron and Wine on Tuesday, Tegan and Sara on the 13th of October, and Kaki King on the 17th :)

Update

PAST

Amy & Travis got married on the 8th.
Went to Amarillo w/Traci the 15th-17th.
I purchased a Macbook (finally) and an iTouch last Friday.
Templer had his first soccer game last Saturday.
Saw House Bunny last Sunday... funny... thinking about it will ruin it.

PRESENT

I went class shopping this week in hopes to find the best possible combo... no such thing.

I tried out the following:
Dynamics of Prejudice - topic sounds interesting... but the grad student teaching it ruined it.
Soc of Gender - sounds like a great class, but too much work that I am far from motivated to do.
Lesbian Culture and Politics - meh.
Psych of Human Sexuality - one of the final four... but... an exam is in the way of my plans.
Dynamics of Global Change - made the final four... not sure why... pr'ly b/c of the time.
Drugs, Crime, and Soc Control - same as above.
Drugs and Behavior - my favorite of the final four.

Whatev. It'll be over soon.

FUTURE

September'll be an excellent month... ready?

6th - Tim Finn/Kimo @ Lobo Theater
9th - Jenny Lewis releases new album
15th - Jenny Lewis @ Sunshine
16th - Gin Blossoms @ St. Fair
20th - Fall SW Funny Fest @ Kimo
23rd - Ani Difranco @ Lensic in Santa Fe (another excellent option Beck/MGMT @ Kimo)
25th - 29th - in Austin for ACL
30th - Iron & Wine @ Popejoy

October:

The "Travel Plan" below is even more perfect. Kaki King is playing at Bluebird on the 17th.
Only pr'lm is... I have an exam on the 14th... drop the class? I think so.

Travel

Sorry it's been like 10 years since I posted last... I've been tossing photos up on my picasa web album rather than this here blog. I need to figure out a balance between the two, obviously. Ah balance...

Anyway, there is a reason for this post.

I am finally going to a music festival (my schedule can be found here). I bought my ticket to ACL a while back and booked my flight to Austin this morning! Wahoooooooooo! This is definitely countdown worthy!

Now, this whole travel bit has got me thinking (well... dreaming) about Portland. This week I got an email from Southwest announcing $79 flights to Portland from Denver. This pretty much sounds like it was created for me :) I have my plan all set up. Want to hear it?

October 13th - Drive to Denver in the am and see Tegan and Sara in the pm. Stay the night.
October 14th - Fly to Portland
October 18th - Fly to Denver and drive home (if I feel like it)

... the only problem with this trip is school, I have class M-Th... hell, I'll rearrange my schedule. The only *real* problem with this trip is I may get "lost" at any point and refuse to come home.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
